Securing a Just Global Transition at COP30

COP30 is a key moment to elevate the priorities of resource-rich countries in the energy transition. These countries are essential as producers of transition minerals and face major fiscal and economic risks as the world moves away from fossil fuels. Behind every mine and oil field are communities carrying the costs of this global shift, while also seeking ways to build more secure and sustainable futures. NRGI is working to ensure their voices and priorities are part of the solutions being negotiated.

A just transition away from fossil fuels

We’re supporting negotiators from resource-rich countries to advance an equitable transition that drives sustainable economic transformation and secures a better future for communities in oil- and gas-producing regions, with national oil companies key to the shift.

Stronger governance of transition minerals

Transition minerals remain absent from climate negotiations. We’re supporting resource-rich countries to push for the COP30 negotiated text to break this silence and recognize their role in climate action, including through the Just Transition Work Programme.

During this first COP in the Amazon, discover how NRGI is working to advance a just and sustainable transition in one of the planet’s most vital and biodiverse regions.
